Privacy Policy
Residential Energy Dynamics (RED) is committed to protecting your privacy and developing technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Privacy Policy applies to the RED website and governs data collection and usage. By using the RED website, you consent to the data practices described in this statement as well as our Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, then you should stop accessing this website and its corresponding services.
COLLECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
When you subscribe to RED Calc Pro, RED collects personally identifiable information, such as your email address, name, home or work address or telephone number. RED also collects anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, preferences, interests, and favorites.
There is also information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by RED. This information can include your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring website addresses. This information is used by RED for the operation of our services, to maintain the quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of the RED website.
Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose personally identifiable information or personally sensitive data through RED public message boards, this information may be collected and used by others. RED does not read any of your private online communications.
RED encourages you to review the privacy statements of websites you choose to link to from RED so that you can understand how those websites collect, use and share your information. RED is not responsible for the privacy statements or other content on websites outside of the RED and RED family of websites.
USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
RED collects and uses your personal information to operate the RED website and deliver the services you have requested. RED also uses your personally identifiable information to inform you of other products or services available from RED and its affiliates. RED may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered.
RED does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties. RED may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business partners about a particular offering that may be of interest to you. In those cases, your unique personally identifiable information (e-mail, name, address, telephone number) is not transferred to the third party. In addition, RED may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange for deliveries. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to RED, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
RED does not use or disclose sensitive personal information, such as race, religion, or political affiliations, without your explicit consent.
RED keeps track of the websites and pages our customers visit within RED, in order to determine what RED services are the most popular. This data is used to deliver customized content and advertising within RED to customers whose behavior indicates that they are interested in a particular subject area.
RED will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on RED or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of RED; and, (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of RED, or the public.
Information about our customers, including personal information, may be disclosed as part of any merger, acquisition, debt financing, the sale of company assets, as well as in the event of an insolvency, bankruptcy or receivership in which personal information could be transferred to third parties as one of RED’s business assets. In such an event, we will attempt to notify you before your personal information is transferred, but you may not have the right to opt-out of any such transfer.
COMMENTS
When visitors leave comments on the website, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
MEDIA
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
USE OF COOKIES
The RED website uses “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a Web page server. Cookies cannot be used to run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you, and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookie to you.
One of the primary purposes of cookies is to provide a convenience feature to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page. For example, if you personalize RED pages, or register with RED site or services, a cookie helps RED to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, and so on. When you return to the same RED website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the RED features that you customized.
You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. Most Web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the RED services or websites you visit.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in to RED Calc Pro, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
You are responsible for safeguarding and preventing unauthorized access to the user information and password that you use to access our services. You agree not to disclose your password to any third party and you are responsible for any activity using your account, whether or not you authorized that activity. Please immediately notify RED of any unauthorized use of your account.
RED secures your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. RED secures the personally identifiable information you provide on computer servers in a controlled, secure environment, protected from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. When personal information is transmitted to other websites, it is protected through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. RED does not directly take, save, or store credit or debit card information; this is done by another organization that specializes in taking credit cards and storing credit card information securely.
CHANGES TO THIS STATEMENT
RED will occasionally update this Statement of Privacy to reflect company and customer feedback. RED encourages you to periodically review this Statement to be informed of how RED is protecting your information.
EMBEDDED CONTENT FROM OTHER WEBSITES
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
HOW LONG WE RETAIN YOUR DATA
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website by purchasing a subscription to RED Calc Pro, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information, except for passwords.
WHAT RIGHTS YOU HAVE OVER YOUR DATA
If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
CONTACT INFORMATION
RED welcomes your comments regarding this Privacy Policy. If you believe that RED has not adhered to this Policy, please contact RED at rjkarg@REDCalc.com. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine and remedy the problem.
