RED Calc Free and Pro Move to DOE!

We are excited to announce that the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and the Building Technologies Office (BTO) of the Department of Energy (DOE) have collaborated to purchase the RED Calc Free and RED Calc Pro web software tools. Once the transfer of the RED software is complete this year, the RED Calc Pro tools will be available free of charge to everyone on the Building America Solution Center (BASC) website. At the completion of the transfer, the RED Calc Free and RED Calc Pro tools will no longer be available on the Residential Energy Dynamics (RED) website.

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in Richland, Washington is managing the transfer of the RED software to the BASC website and will be responsible for maintaining the new website, updating the tools, and adding new features.

The current subscribers of the RED Calc Pro software will have all their saved files moved to a new database as part of the transfer. New users of RED Calc Pro on the BASC website will be able to save customer/client files and print reports as PDFs.

We are very happy that the RED Calc tools will live on and be available at no cost to all who wish to use them. We sincerely thank the managers at WAP, BTO, and PNNL for making this possible.

Note: At this time, you may still subscribe to RED Calc Pro. However, because of the uncertainty of the final transfer date of the RED software to the BASC website, we recommend you subscribe on a monthly basis rather than on an annual basis.
